I need you anyway.

Hi Lovelies!!

I'm back with a haul, it feels like it's been so long since I've done one but I'm sure it really hasn't been all that long. I'll be posting a clothes haul soon, but for now here are there items I've picked up recently from Boots and Superdrug. I've realised I've missed out a few items, so expect another beauty haul sometime soon!

Unfortunately the photo quality isn't great, but I was eager to post this (so I could crack open the products and use them) and whenever I return home from work I miss the best of the daylight.

Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya
Rimmel Kate Moss in 01
Sleek Blusher in Rose Gold
Garnier Perfect Blur
Gosh Brow Gel in Clear
Touch of Silver Conditioner
Simple Foaming Cleanser
Simple Revitalising Eyeroller
Simple Eye Make-up Corrector Pen
Ecotools Five Piece Complexion Set

I've been on a bit of skin care kick, mine is so temperamental and at the age of 21, it's now really starting to annoy me. I'm developing a new routine for skin care, as Simple products were on offer (3 for 2) and I know I'm not allergic to them, I couldn't resist!

I was so torn on which of the lip butters I should get next, and despite setting out with the intention of getting a pink shade, I ended up going for a muted coral colour.

I've heard so much about the Kate Moss lipstick range, especially about the red shades. I finally caved and decided to test this out for myself.

I'll be reviewing a few bits and pieces over the next few weeks, but if there's anything in particular you would like me to review, just let me know! :)

Guilty Pleasure Playlist

Hi Lovelies!

I have a haul post coming soon, but I wanted to share a few tracks I've been listening to (and loving!) recently. I've called this my 'guilty pleasure' playlist, although that's a bit misleading because I absolutely don't feel guilty for sharing a strong love with these songs. Sometimes it's healthy to go outside of your normal choices, so I'm fully embracing doing just that! (You know what they say, the heart wants what the heart wants...and I've been carrying around my love of Little Mix for so long, I just had to share it.)

Little Mix- Change Your Life

It was hard for me to pick just one Little Mix song, but I've opted for this.
I've been weirdly emotional over the past week or so and I've been suffering with really bad anxiety, for some reason this song has had me in tears and heck, it's a brilliant song!!

Bo Bruce- Save Me

Talent show theme going on, but I was a fan of Bo's unique voice from day one. I didn't realise her album had been released until this song started playing at work and I loved it; I've since bought her album and I'm definitely a fan!

Janet Devlin- Pick Me Up

I loved Janet in the X-factor, I went as far as voting for her (and usually I'm so anti-watching talent shows) but I loved her unique voice. I pledged on her album many months ago, and at the beginning of this month I received an email with her album. It's beaten all of my expectations, and I love every song on it! Definitely one to watch out for.

Cher- Strong Enough

If any of my friends are reading this, I'M SORRY for my constant singing/playing of Cher that you've had to endure over the past couple of months. It's not stopping any time soon.

Selena Gomez- Come & Get It

I honestly wish I could say that I hated this song, but the fact that it's been stuck in my head for the past two weeks would prove otherwise.

Jessie J- Wild

This took a while to grow on me, and I still think the rap parts are completely out of place. Having said that, I love the chorus and I love the sentiment of the song. Plus, it's hella catchy.

The past couple of weeks have been very weird for me, and I think this playlist only shows how true that is.
On that note, I feel the need to play some more Little Mix. (Did I mention that I sat up until 2am this morning watching their audition videos and cried continuously? Yeah. That was a thing.)
If any of you feel like sharing your 'guilty pleasures,' that'd be great!

Why would you wake me if you're not gonna save me?

Hi Lovelies!!

I started this wishlist off a few days ago, after spending a couple of weeks with no money and pay day on the horizon, my mind was in full blown 'I WANT TO SHOP' mode. Payday has been and gone, and so far I have been well behaved- and I really am going to try and keep it that way. These are still things that I really want, so I may treat myself to one or two things.

I feel like I'm missing out by not owning these brushes, are they really worth the hype?

I LOVE the look of this blusher, and I'm a fan of Sleek Make up. I intend to visit a Superdrug tomorrow so I really hope they have this in stock!

It's not that I struggle to find a powder that I like, to be honest I'm neither here nor there about it, but I love the look of this and I'm really struggling to find it in stores...and that makes me want it even more.

You've probably seen me rave about the lip butters, so of course I want to add this beautiful colour to the collection!

Ditto for above, I love the balm stains- I can't resist trying out another one!

I love the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque, so the chance to try these products out would be amazing. I'm on a bit of a 'hair health' kick as I've recently gone from red/orange to a very light blonde (aiming for platinum!) My hair has coped surprisingly well with this transition, but I feel like it deserves a reward for being so strong!

I love the milk_shake products, I use the glistening serum daily and I was addicted to the leave in conditioner for a long time. I really want to test this out and see if it lives up to my expectations.

This sounds perfect for my skin, and I definitely intend to get this. My skin generally has a couple of weeks of being well behaved, and then it throws a hormonal tantrum and there's nothing I can do to defeat it! I really hope this is the magic mask I've been searching for.

Alongside aiming for platinum hair, I also want to have some pastel colours thrown in there at some point. I'm not sure when this will happen, but I've always been one for coloured hair and I don't think that's going to change any time soon!

This is only the hair and beauty section of my wishlist...apparently I'm feeling incredibly needy. Expect the second half soon, and a haul post is bound sure to happen!

A Fountain of Talent

Hi lovelies!

This post is a little bit different to the norm for me, but in recent weeks I've been pretty overwhelmed by how many talented (and kind!) people I know, I'm not quite sure why this has taken me so long to realise; but finally I have!
It's a lovely feeling being surrounded by such talented folk, and I never have to search far for a helping hand. This post acts as both a thank you and a note to all of you that you should check out these blogs and pages!

Firstly, I'd like to introduce you all to my close friend;

Vicky has basically been on the receiving end of many stupid questions, late night emails and a constant source of support during the release of my book (and in general.) She's an incredibly talented lady! She's also battled through two attempts of taking my head shots, and honestly, I'm useless; she just lets me get on with it.

Next we have the designer of my book cover! Yazz and I go way back, and she's definitely one to keep an eye on. She's incredibly talented at graphic design and art. (Although not so great at the blogging thing, I'll whip her into shape soon enough!)

You've probably seen me talk about Hannah from Daisies & DMs before, an incredibly talented artist and illustration. She designed my previous blog header and most recently has designed the merchandise to go in hand with my book! I'm also a fan of her blog; she's a lady with great taste!

I spend quite a lot of time stalking Roxy's photography page on facebook, and I've been lucky enough to work with her a couple of times. (Most recently for a project that I can't wait to share with you!) I'm awful at the whole 'modelling' thing, but she still manages to work with me and I really am amazed by her talent.

I met Danielle last week (for the above mentioned project) and as some of you may have noticed, my blog has had a design overhaul! This is all down to the lovely Danielle volunteering herself for this, and I'm so happy with the results. She's a very talented graphic designer!

And finally,  Liam is also a graphic designer and finalises the trio of people who I worked with last week. Another person who has been great support with my book and approached me with his idea for a project. (I don't know if project is the right word, but I'm not sure how much I can say at the moment!)

Honestly, there are so many other people I could include but the large majority of them don't have a website or blog (boooo) despite my incessant nagging at them to make a page. (I just want more internet friends!)
Being able to interact with, receive help from and work with so many talented and artistic people makes life seem that little bit rosier. Thank you all for making my life that little bit easier!
I can't express how many times I've been close to throwing the towel in on my book, but the overwhelming support I've had from people like this has spurred me on that little bit further.

Summer Lip Products

Hi Lovelies!!

If you're from the UK, you'll know that at long last the sun has come out to play! This means that not only has the summer wardrobe finally been pulled out, so to has the summer make up. I tend to tone down my whole look for summer, wanting as little on my face as possible; still, I can't resist a bit of lipstick. I thought I'd share the lip products I've been using the most; adding a bit of vibrancy to my other wise minimal make up.

As you can see, I'm loving all things vibrant right now!

1) Maybelline ColourSensational
Shocking Coral

There's nothing coral about this, it's definitely more of a vibrant pink. Despite the misleading name, I love it! The lasting power on this is pretty good too!

2) Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain
Honey

This is the only one out of my collection that's a little more modest in colour, but sometimes it's nice to be a little more understated.

3) L'Oreal Paris GlamShine Stain Splash
Princess

Another pink shade here, and when applied I think it has a slight tint of orange/coral. It's super easy to apply, and as it has quite a sheer finish it's a nice way to add a hint of colour without being too bold.

4) Revlon Lip Butter
Tutti Frutti

This has been one of my go-to lipsticks for the past few weeks, I love the coral colour and the sheer finish, I also find it to be quite moisturising which is perfect for the summer!

5) MAC Sheen Supreme
New Temptation

I'm usually a fan of matte red lipsticks, but I think that for the hot summer days it's a bit too much. This is perfect as it means I can have my red lipstick fix but with a summer twist as it's a lovely sheer application. It's super moisturising too. This is new to my make up collection but I can already see us going into a long-term relationship together.

I hope this was useful to some of you. For lipstick fans, it's nice still to be able to wear a lip colour but with a summer twist. Although thinking about it, I am pretty excited to get back to my winter shades too!

I'm planning on doing a post about my hair soon, I'm currently in the process of going blonde (very nearly there!) and it's hit me that there are very few colours I haven't been. Please do let me know if you'd like a thorough post about the various colours, maintenance and how to achieve the colours- would this be of any use or interest to anybody?

Monday 8 July 2013

Suffering from a serious case of wanderlust.

Evening lovelies!

I wanted to share some photos from my recent holiday/city break. I went to Amsterdam for 3 nights; after coming back, going straight back to work and developing a horrible cold- it's fair to say I'm missing it, a lot!

I filmed a couple of small clips whilst there, nothing fancy- just some sights to soak in.

I had such a lovely time; I've never really travelled much, the first abroad holiday I went on was to New York 2 years ago, I returned there and aside from Dublin that's pretty much all I've seen outside of England. Perhaps I'm too accustomed to the New York style holiday, but for a city break this was so relaxing.
It's no secret that Amsterdam has it's 'dark' side (although, logistically, I understand why the city functions as it does) but I would still recommend this place to everyone. My friend and I certainly didn't go there as we're interested in legal drugs or prostitution, and we had an amazing time- so there really is more to it than what it's well known for!
The people are polite and helpful, the city is beautiful, the architecture is also beautiful and there's something about it that just seems way too relaxed to be taken seriously as a city. We spent most of our time accidentally finding places we had intended to go to (Dam Square, Red Light District, Plaza Shopping Centre, to name a few) but it was lovely to have a couple of days with no schedule, no worrying about time and literally just ending up wherever our legs walked us to.
In the oh-so intelligent words of me (said in a west country accent) we really were 'Ladies that does leisure.' How I miss that feeling!

It's not a place I'd necessarily rush back to as there's so much of Europe I really want to visit, but I'd never pass up an opportunity to return and I'm so glad I've been.

There was a cute little cafe near our hotel, we love a habit so visiting here became the morning must!

Not the most flattering of photos, but I was feeling particularly chirpy so it's okay!

I'd share more photos, but if you've ever been to Amsterdam, you'll know that there are so many photos of rivers, buildings and bikes you can show people before they start getting incredibly bored!

Until next time!
